On Saturday 4th April, the day before Easter Sunday, we organised an Easter Egg Hunt at the Orchard where we have our studio. It’s a perfect location for events and gave us an opportunity to raise money for charity.
The event was run by us, Justin & Emily with the help of some friends, in conjunction with LUSH Cosmetics in Taunton with all profits and donations being split between a cause that is close to our hearts, “Finley’s Dreams and Wishes” and an animal charity – Dogs 4 Adoption.
Our friend, 3 year old Finley, who we’ve known since we did family photos of him when he was born has a rare, life limiting brain disorder, one of only 50 children in the world known to have this. You can read more about Finley and donate here http://www.gofundme.com/
Another charity was Dogs 4 Adoption. They are responsible for taking and caring for all of the stray dogs from two council areas; Taunton Deane, and South Somerset. These dogs are brought to them by the dog warden and if they are not reclaimed by their owners within the legal statutory time, they re-home them on behalf of the councils.
From 11am we had Easter arts and crafts, bubbles and other outdoors toys to play with. We also had a couples stalls in the studio from other companies. Three of the lovely ladies from LUSH Cosmetics in Taunton came along so families could try their hands at making bath bombs aswell as bringing a selection of their Easter products for sale. Currypool Orchard also set up a stall with a selection of their amazing organic apple juice, chutney, jams, honey and apple cider vinegar and Jane from Soul Creations baked LOTS of amazing cupcakes for sale which really went down a treat!
At Midday we started the Easter egg hunt. We had placed plastic eggs all around the orchard and handed out Easter baskets for the children to collect as many Easter eggs as they could on the hunt. For the prizes LUSH donated lots of bath bombs and we had bought LOTS of Easter eggs and sweets to go in Easter decorated goody bags!
After the Easter egg hunt we were treated with a visit from the four donkeys that live at Currypool Mill where the orchard is located.
With this being our first large event of the year we capped the limit of children to 40. With parents and other relatives who came with the children we had approximately 120 people in the studio and around the orchard! With Emily and I running the event it was hard to capture shots of every family who came but we hope you enjoy looking through the photographs we got!
We asked for a minimum donation of £3 per child participating in the Easter egg hunt. We bought all the chocolate Easter eggs and other sweets, chocolate, baskets and other arts and crafts and we collected donations from Jane from Soul Creations, LUSH and Currypool Orchard.
Thankyou to everyone who came and helped out and/or participated in the Easter egg hunt! In total we raised £200. We will be doing more events throughout the year so join the Facebook page to keep up to date with everything we do!
