After visiting Bath Christmas Market Emily saw a competition on the Market’s Facebook page saying about winning a trip to Lapland when you upload a photograph from the market this year. I entered the comp with a photograph taken by Emily of our beautiful daughter, Matilda, enchanted by all the pretty lights on one of the stalls and then thought nothing of it…
The fantastic prize, provided by Canterbury Travel – who have been offering visits to Lapland for more than 30 years – is an ‘Enchanting Lapland Package’ day tour for a family of four and includes return flights from Bristol to Finnish Lapland (officially the home of Santa Claus!), a sleigh transfer from the airport grounds in Lapland to a countryside location, husky and reindeer sleigh rides, snowmobiling, tobogganing, a Snow Castle visit and a private family meeting with Santa.
So you know when you enter pretty much any competition just because you thought well it can’t hurt but we’ll never win it…
…I had a message from Debbie from BATH TOURISM in my Facebook messages this morning asking to get in contact with her asap!
TURNS OUT WE ONLY FLIPPING DID !! WE GO THIS SATURDAY !!
THANKYOU BATH TOURISM !!
We’re super excited about winning the trip however winning the prize is bitter sweet. We don’t have a passport for Matilda 🙁 After a frantic morning posting questions on facebook asking friends, researching on the net and finally getting through to the passport office Emily was told that as it would be Matilda’s first passport they can only Fast-track it which is a 7 day turn around. Even if it arrived earlier than 7 days we need to let the travel company know today who is going on the trip 🙁 We are so gutted as it would have been so magical for her but Emily and I will take the trip and spend time together for possibly the first time in ages (not including all the weddings we shoot together). We’ll have to take lots of photos for Matilda to see when she’s older.
I genuinely do feel gutted that we can’t take Matilda but it’s only a day and we’re going to go and enjoy ourselves!!
EDIT: See the blog post for the trip here!!
